Our Process2
Our Process
Step One: Book a Consultation

Contact us to book a consultation with Dr Peerbaccus. We recommend getting a referral from your doctor to see us to claim a Medicare rebate from your initial consultation.

To prepare for your consultation, please do the following:

  • Kindly fill out our ‘Are you a patient? Form’ prior to your appointment.
  • Read any relevant pages on our website such as upper endoscopy, colonoscopy and appropriate disorders if known.

Please bring along your:

  • Referral letter.
  • Medicare, Pension card or DVA Card
  • Private Health Insurance membership card
  • List of current medical issues and medications
  • Blood results, other test results, previous medical records, scans etc. that might relate to your appointment.

During your first consultation, the doctor will inquire about your current symptoms and gather a comprehensive health history involving both yourself and your family. Subsequently, the doctor will assess your overall health and propose any necessary tests or procedures tailored to your specific needs.

This assessment is meant to assist Dr. Peerbaccus in determining the most suitable treatment plan for your specific needs. Through this process, Dr. Peerbaccus aims to equip you with the necessary knowledge to make well-informed decisions regarding your future healthcare.

For new patients, 30 minutes is allocated for the consultation. This generally allows sufficient time to discuss the condition, perform an examination, and review any relevant investigations taking into consideration your circumstances and goals. In some instances, complex or multiple conditions require a longer consultation time of 45 minutes.

In most cases a second appointment or follow up appointment of 20 minutes is required to discuss outcomes of tests, additional aspects of your care or outcomes of procedures in more detail.

Bringing along a family member or friend can be very useful to help recall the information discussed. If anything remains unclear after the consultation or you have further questions, feel free to contact us and make an additional appointment to discuss your condition further.

Together, we’ll collaborate closely with you to craft a thorough care pathway. As part of this journey, we’ll coordinate any necessary investigations, such as blood tests, procedures, or imaging studies. Your procedure date can be scheduled during your consultation, and it will take place at a private hospital of your choosing for your convenience.

Once all necessary tests and procedures are completed, Dr. Peerbaccus will arrange a clinic appointment to discuss the results with you at a time convenient for you. We’ll collaborate closely with you to customise the best care plan for your diagnosis, offering personalised support based on your unique needs.

Cancellation of an Appointment

Please inform us at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment. For any scheduled endoscopic procedures, we kindly request that you provide a minimum of three working days’ notice (72 business hours) if cancellation is necessary. Our appointments and procedure slots are in high demand, and early notification of cancellation allows us to offer timely care to another individual in need.
